Booking & General
How far in advance should I book my session?
For maternity sessions, I recommend booking during your second trimester (around 20 weeks) to secure your preferred date, sessions are best at 28 to 35 weeks. For newborn sessions, book as early as you feel comfortable. The earlier the better so we can schedule around your due date. Family sessions can be booked 6 to 8 weeks in advance, but weekends do fill up fast so the sooner you lock in your date the better.
How do I book a session with you?
Simply fill out the enquiry form on my website and I’ll get back to you within 24 hours. We’ll chat about the session type, timing, and any questions you have. Once you’re ready, I’ll send an invoice and booking contract through my online system. A deposit secures your date, with the remaining balance due 7 days before your session.
How do deposits and payments work?
A $200 deposit is required for individual sessions, or $350 for bundled packages. The deposit is due at the time of booking to secure your date. Once I receive your deposit, your session is locked in and you’ll receive a confirmation along with your client guide. The remaining balance is then due 7 days before your session date. All payments are handled through my online system, making it easy and straightforward.
What happens if I need to reschedule?
Life happens, especially with little ones! You can reschedule your session free of charge with at least 7 days’ notice. For weather-dependent outdoor sessions, if conditions aren’t ideal we’ll find a new date together at no extra cost. Newborn session dates are always flexible since babies arrive on their own schedule.
Do you travel for sessions?
I primarily shoot across Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs, Sutherland Shire, and Inner West. My studio is in Botany. Outdoor sessions take place at gorgeous locations from Maroubra and Coogee to La Perouse and Cronulla. If your preferred location is outside these areas, just ask, a small travel fee may apply for locations further afield.
Maternity Sessions
When is the best time for a maternity session?
The sweet spot is between 30 and 36 weeks, your bump is beautifully round, you’re still comfortable enough to move around, and the shape photographs beautifully. If you’re planning a mermaid session, slightly earlier (28 to 34 weeks) can work well too, as the water takes the weight off.
What should I wear to my maternity session?
I have a client wardrobe full of beautiful maternity gowns, wraps, and bikinis that are yours to use during your session, at no extra cost. After booking, you’ll receive a client guide with styling advice and tips on what works best on camera, whether you’re using the wardrobe or bringing your own outfits. Flowy fabrics, neutral tones, and form-fitting silhouettes all photograph beautifully.
Can my partner and kids be in the maternity photos?
Absolutely! I always welcome partners and older siblings. We’ll do a mix of solo bump portraits and family shots together. Kids add the best energy to sessions. I love capturing those candid, chaotic, real moments. There’s no extra charge for including your family.
Underwater / Mermaid Sessions
What exactly is a mermaid session?
A mermaid session is an underwater maternity photoshoot, either in the ocean or in a private heated pool. You’ll float, dive gently, and move through the water while I capture stunning, otherworldly images of you and your bump. It’s one of the most magical and unique ways to celebrate your pregnancy. Learn more about mermaid sessions here.
Do I need to be a strong swimmer?
Yes, you do need to be comfortable in the water for a mermaid session. I offer different options for different swimming abilities, from shallow pool sessions to deeper ocean shoots, so we’ll find the right fit for you. If you’re more comfortable in a pool than the ocean, that’s completely fine and we get equally stunning results.
Can I do a mermaid session year-round?
Yes! Pool sessions run all year round since the water is heated. Ocean sessions are available year-round too, though the warmer months (October to April) are most comfortable. We always check conditions on the day and reschedule if the ocean isn’t suitable. Safety and comfort come first, always.
What happens if the weather is bad on the day?
For ocean sessions, I monitor the weather and surf conditions closely. If conditions aren’t safe or won’t produce great images, I’ll reach out to reschedule, always free of charge. Pool sessions go ahead rain or shine since they’re in a controlled environment.
Newborn Sessions
When should my newborn session take place?
Ideally within the first 3 weeks after birth, while baby is still beautifully sleepy and curly. But don’t stress. I’ve photographed babies up to 8 weeks old with gorgeous results. The session style just adapts to your baby’s age and personality. I always recommend booking while you’re still pregnant so we can schedule a date around your due date.
How long do newborn sessions take?
Allow up to two hours. We never rush, the session works entirely at baby’s pace. That means time for feeds, nappy changes, cuddles, and settling. I keep the studio warm and cosy so bub stays comfortable. You’re welcome to bring snacks and drinks for yourself too!
Where do newborn sessions take place?
All newborn sessions take place in my Botany studio. It’s a warm, calming space filled with natural light and set up with everything you need, including a client wardrobe with gorgeous wraps, rompers, and accessories for your little one. Free street parking is right outside.
Gallery & Delivery
How long until I receive my images?
Your private viewing gallery will be ready within 4 to 5 weeks of your session. You’ll receive a link to view, select, and download your edited digital images.
How many images will I receive?
You’ll receive a private viewing gallery with a minimum of 70 beautifully edited images. From there, you select the images you’d like to download based on your package inclusions. For example, a Barefoot package includes 10 digital downloads, and if you upgrade to Essential Elements you’ll get 20. Every image in your gallery is individually edited and colour-graded. Check the pricing page for full package details.
Do you offer prints, albums, or wall art?
Yes! I offer a range of beautiful print products including fine art prints, canvas wraps, and heirloom albums through my professional print lab. These are available as add-ons after your session through your private viewing gallery.
