Embracing the beautiful chaos

Family sessions are always full of laughter and energy. They’re all about letting kids be themselves, running the show while we follow along, embracing the delightful chaos that comes with capturing genuine family moments.

My approach is relaxed, guided but never forced. I encourage play, movement, and spontaneity. I welcome the giggles, the silliness, and the moments of stillness in between. Some of my favourite family images don’t even show faces, because sometimes, the truest moments are captured in a touch, a gesture, or a fleeting connection.

Golden hour magic

Family sessions are held during golden hour, that magical first or last hour of sunlight before sunrise or sunset. The warm, amber light wraps around your family and creates images that feel soft, dreamy, and full of warmth. Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs offer some of the most stunning golden hour locations in Australia, from Maroubra Beach and Coogee to La Perouse and beautiful local parks.

Preparing your little ones

It’s totally normal to be worried about how your kids will go at a sunrise or sunset session. Here are my top tips for the day:

Try to have a relaxing day so they aren’t too burnt out. Feed them dinner before coming so we have nice full bellies. Bring non-messy snacks like crackers, favourite toys or comforters. And most importantly, embrace the chaos and have fun! I promise I’ll handle the rest.

But don’t let this scare you! I won’t just put you in front of the camera and expect you to perform. I’ll make sure everyone has warmed up to the camera and I’ll guide you in a way that feels natural and fun.

What to wear

Coordinated but not matching. Neutral, earthy tones, creams, tans, olive greens, soft blues, photograph beautifully at golden hour. Avoid bold logos, bright neons, or anything too busy. I have a client closet with options for mum, and I’ll send styling guidance for the whole family so everyone looks cohesive without being matchy-matchy.

Extended family sessions

Family session packages are designed for immediate family and don’t include extended family members. If you wish to include grandparents, siblings with their families, or a larger group, there is an additional charge to account for the extra time and coordination. What makes my family sessions different

I don’t do rigid, everyone-look-at-the-camera family photos. I capture the way your toddler runs to you, the way your partner lifts your child into the air, the way everyone collapses into laughter when something goes hilariously wrong. If you want real over perfect, movement over stillness, and connection over posing, we’re a perfect match.
